“These are the times that try men's souls.”
Well that's the problem Puff combine young fresh out of college F&G biologists that have been indoctrinated in a socialist environment in thought progressing years of learning and we end up with these kind of problems. They had a special pellet made up to feed the deer. I told them that's all fine and dandy, but deer can also eat alfalfa. The problem arises when their rumen has to make the switch over to all that high protein feed, takes over 30 days or more. In that time lots of death loss from diarrhea and not being able to utilize the protein they are eating.

They would have been better off letting deer survive on browse and stockpiled grasses, letting the fittest live. However they just trained them to bring their young back to try and get a free lunch. Not unlike the human population I guess LOL

The F&G admits to me now they should have never caved into public pressure to winter feed these deer, they had more phone calls wanting deer fed than from us ranchers telling them to leave them alone. Now they get daily phone calls about depredation problems on fields and crops.
