Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | I didn't go into the area of directors buying from competitors. We have that on our board too. That doesn't bother me. A farmer/director has to do what is best for their operation. I don't hold that against anyone. I have often thought the input from a director doing business with a competitor might be a good thing for the coop to make them better. There must be a reason why that director is doing business elsewhere. Maybe he can tell why he is not doing business with the coop and the coop can figure out a way to earn his business which would be better for all members of the coop.
You do sometimes have to be careful about board members protecting their own area or self interests. Some board members can be very bad about that. Hopefully your on a board where the directors look at the big picture for the coop and not try to protect their own little area. |
