Subject: Co-op board of directors conflict of interest

Northern edge Mahnomen County
I have been on my co-op board for one year now. In the last couple of months we have attended a couple of board training events. Conflict of interest by board members has been discussed at both of them. The most common example used has been a director/farmer who is also a seed dealer/other input supplier, putting them in competition with the co-op. I don't know the bylaws of our co-op regarding this and will be looking at getting the exact info from our bylaws. I'm curious if other co-ops have dealt with this and made changes/updated their bylaws. I am still developing my opinion on this matter and that is why I posted here. Any comments, suggestions, or stories are appreciated. Thank you.
