Midwest did the soil tests, I think the 6% OM is to high personally, we usually are in the 2.5-4% range. A large portion of this field is Arveson Loam which is described as poorly drained and having up to 30% calcium carbonate, the other soils that it shows in this field range from 5-15% calcium carbonate while being somewhat better drained. Averson loam is listed with the depth to the water table at 0-18" which has to be very close to right. The soil was formed by glacial deposits which probably helped contribute to the abundance of calcium.
