| We made a verbal commitment to adopt our son the day of his birth. Obtained legal custody on day 2. Completed the legal process 60 or 90 days later.
We never met the bio mother, but we got a single sheet of paper with some reporting--double spaced--stating her ethnic heritage, and some of the health issues that sometimes ran in her family.
For a time there it seemed to be "all the rage" for adopted children to wish to find their birth parents. I told my teenage son that when he was 18 or older I would show him that paperwork, and tell him more of what I knew of the circumstances of his birth and adoption placement. He's now 30, and has never asked. showboat | |
