Subject: Wire size for three phase

Illinois
Does wire size change when going from single phase to three phase?

I know this isn't right but could I use two lighter wires in place of one heavier wire? Heavy wire doesn't have enough flex for the junction boxes I have. I have been to a couple of supply houses and this is the biggest they have.

This is going from the breaker to the switch through an outlet and onto a 15 hp truck auger. From the breaker to the switch and outlet is less than 3 feet of wire. The amps are hard to read on the data plate but I would assume it to be around 50.

Thanks
