Online chart published by CooperBussman (the fuse manufacturer) lists #6 copper if all components are rated for 75 degrees C.

I don't think you are supposed to use multiple parallel conductors unless you need more capacity than the biggest cable available. Then equal lengths of identical cables can be used.

I think you could get a fine strand wire intended for machine tool wiring that would be more flexible.
