40-50 per ton of straw removed is normal. Then go buy chicken litter applied for 30.00 per ton applied and come out pretty good. Mid July chicken farms are usually looking to empty barns a bit so deals can be made.

The 230 ton is most likely for 2 to 4 bales del 20 mi away to a place you can't get a trailer into and they realize they can't unload them. Been down that road.
