Schochoh Ky | Yes we use stripper heads and cut our straw a day ahead of baling with a deere swather. The neighbors mostly use strippers and leave the straw standing and plant through it like crazy. The larger guys here with the larger combines have gone to 40 foot drapers and cut about 8-10 inches off the ground if the wheat is standing good and distribute the straw evenly. Some are cutting lower, the idea here is , they are pushing straw decommissioning and they can harvest dc soybeans later into the night during fall harvest. The standing straw will usually shut them down by dark and we can harvest till 9-10 o'clock easily. | |
