west central wisconsin
Well, I’ll share a second way and it was full of oil and had never had any known problems or things happen to it.

The tractor was used almost exclusively used to plant and spray 200 acres of corn per year and on a forage blower. I’d put money in the blower being it’s demise
On a 60 inch blower, sending corn up 80 foot silos. On occasion the pipe would lug down and then shear.
It was driving along and suddenly quit moving.....it was opened up and the mechanic said it looked grenaded inside.

If I understood the other post, the 4040 had mane of those same parts as it’s larger siblings?

Edited to add that we have had phenomenal Experience with JD powershift transmissions and after reading the other posts it indeed sounds like we had something freak happen to our 4040. All we’ve ever owned for nearly 50 years has been JD tractors

We had purchased that tractor from a salvage yard. First and only time we have ever done that. We’ve only replaced a couple clutch packs ever

Wasn’t trying to spread misinformation
