I "lost" a shotgun for about a year. I keep a short-barreled Winchester 1400 handy and it was gone when I needed to steer some coons away from my garden. I was positive someone had stolen it. We visited our daughter a while later and she asked if I wanted my shotgun back I had given her for protection when she moved in to her house she bought. Doh!
