NEMO | I said it above, I'll say it again....pointless. Sure he can do it, but what for. If he's helping a young family member, then that's completely different. But, if it's like the OP says, then what the heck...at 83 you've got nothing to accomplish or prove. The responses to this post don't completely surprise me, but yet do. Older farmers now find it much easier to just keep going...on the flip side, a lot of younger guys feel entitled. I've got an older neighbor, 80ish, that up until recently was buying a farm a year...wanted his grandson to farm. His grandson has zero interest and it's doubtful he ever will. Grandpa thinks if he keeps getting bigger grandson will bite,,,,huh? Meanwhile, he goes around bragging about all the ground he has.....reckon St. Peter will be impressed with the plat book when he shows it to him?? Society and farming both, have a completely different mindset than a generation or 2 ago | |
