I'll admit that kernel updates are more onerous on Slackware then on Devuan and Slackware isn't as easy to keep an older kernel around. Otherwise it has about been a toss up. Even though 14.2 is now over two years old, it has newer packages than Devuan Jessie and Devuan Ascii is about on a par with 14.2. Both are sans systemd which I'd rather not deal with for a variety of reasons.
I started with Slackware back in '96 so switching back wasn't all that difficult.
