Subject: Straight sections of interstate highways??

West Central Indiana

I thought one time I read somewhere when the Eisenhower interstate system was built they made sure every so many miles had a straight section for landing planes on the road in case of nation emergency. Did I dream that or is it true? If so what were the specs?
