Subject: RE: More Christian Health Sharing questions

West of Lincoln a little bit
1. We have Samaritan. We are assigned one check to one person each month. No different than sending one check to the main office, its just an individual instead of a corporation. Additional donations for non-shareable expenses (like dental or pre-existings) are allowed but not required. Members can also choose to receive their shares online through paypal...

2. Correct, not tax deductible contributions. But we pay so much less to Samaritan compared to our old insurance it makes up for not having the tax write off. That may not always be true but it sure is right now. Plus, they've paid 100% of our big medical bills. No huge deductible. We're over $40,000 ahead on this (including premium savings). I don't care about the tax break at that point.

I think you can use your existing HSA money, but not add to it once you join a ministry. Better check with the HSA admin though.

Our insurance premium quote was almost $2000/mo. We pay $495 for Samaritan (some pay less, depends on which tier you get). That's a lot of cash flow relief.
