southern Illinois | Jon, I bought a tandem truck with an auto trans in it . It is geared to high to run in the country, the trans temp runs 250 while on the converter in the summer when its hot. The trans lock up clutches hook up in 4th and 5th and trans cools down to normal but you have to run about 40mph before this happens. Some loads go down the highway and all is fine but several loads are all country on soft roads that wont allow 40 very often so trans never locks up and heats instead. Just looking for ways to gear it down and keep it cooler. thanks | |
