Chillicothe, Missouri | I heard, didn't see, that two speeds were put in twin-screw trucks on occasion. when they shifted, they would split the two ratio's, putting one in high and one in low. for a splitter, before shifting both into high. they simply let the power divider compensate for the different ratio's. I don't know that you could split the auto in this manner, but you might be able to lower the ratio on a hard surface in both axles with the trans. in neutral, before getting off road. then once back ona hard surface, switch back into the high side. you could also look into an axuliary transmition, the four speeds had a double reduction 1st, then under-drive 2nd, direct 3rd, and an overdrive 4th. but again I am not sure you would be able to shift it with the automatic. | |
