Yes, I would be tearing out the wood floor. I thought about putting in a rat pad, but was thinking about filling the space in too. I need to raise the whole floor 4" to make the house level from room to room. So if I filled the space with gravel up to the top of the floor Joyce's, then I could pour a 4" slab on top with in floor heat.
