Eastern Iowa

jame - 1/12/2018 23:57 It's one of the better run programs out there, and the benefits available are limited. While abuses may be sited, I know of families that it's helped, and I can think of a few that are allowing pride to get in the way of help that's available. Being proud and independent is great. Being blinded by ego to a tough situation when help is available is idiotic.

The lesson and values taught to and hopefully learned by the kids of those independent, proud self supportive parents is priceless. I love to hear stories about successful people that grew up poor and their parents were so hard on them so that they could have a better life. Those values in our society are coming to an end. Now it all about getting free stuff.
I would like to add that I am in favor of food assistance, I'm just opposed to promoting taxpayer funded charity as normal way of life that as many people as possible should take part in. Like Margret Thatcher is credited with saying "The trouble with socialism is you eventually run out of other peoples money".
