Southeast WI | When I quiz company reps on new hybrids (grain or silage) I give them as much info as I can as to where they are going. Such as cont corn or rotated ground, tillage practice, of course soil type which also can tell them what kind of disease environment it could have, etc.
If that's the case they can get you their top hybrids. With that said, back when I had time and we ran consultant trials around the state it was not uncommon to have one or two hybrids be 40-50 bpa less than the top tier ones! And that was in a mix of only 8-10 hybrids per year. Now in your plot if you see that big of a diff it's probably quite real and that's a hybrid you can walk away from. | |
