Southeast WI | I've seen similar things a few times the other way. In UW plots a hybrid does great, had it out in multiple plots with our consulting group and the same hybrid fell on its face. In a couple cases turns out the hybrid had poor cold vigor, stands were subpar in the real world as were yields. Need to look at several sources for data. Plus every year is different which is why one look one year on an individual farm makes it tough to select hybrids. Here we can have south Dakota weather or moist Ohio type weather in any given year. | |
