I was thinking the same thing. At speed a disk drops roughly 13 seeds per second at 30k population. The tractor moves about 7' per second at 5mph. So you need to drop the planter in 10' early? Could one adjust the drive wheel so it contacts a little early without damaging something? 

As mentioned above, the problem would be that it will drop extra seed each time a row is shut off.
