7 years ago I broke both leg bones above my right ankle and severely dislocated the ankle. Many screws and a plate were used to put me back together. After 1 year, I swore I could feel the screw heads and had them removed. I can still "feel" them even though they are gone. In my case it was psychological, and the removal cost me about 4 months recovery time for nothing. Wish her good luck.
