My wife shattered her wrist into 11 pieces a few years ago and got along fine with the plate and 13 screws for about two years then she slowly started getting some pain when the plate or some of the screws hit something. She had the plate and screws removed and a couple of weeks later she had no pain at all. The hardware will come out with less pain then it did going in.
