| All the fancy programs in the world will not help if you do not use good data. For instance some one mentioned machinery cost per year ( I assume is repairs + depreciation) divided by acres to get your per acre cost on a farm. While this gives you your AVERAGE cost per acre it is not a true cost on each farm. For instance Dad rented a farm and I did most of the work on it. I figured the machinery cost $50 less than he did. He figured total cost divided by acres. I figured total costs divided by hours on each farm. One thing I also figured that may be subject to debate also. It was a square flat farm with no ditches or trees. I figured since we have a history of no operate error damages on that farm that those repairs for marker arms in the trees etc should not be figured in the cost per acre on this farm. | |
