Right now I think you have to own the ewes to see a profit with hair sheep.
I cannot sell the lambs for under $100 dollars/hd no matter how much they weigh.
That does not leave enough for feeding weanlings to just 75lbs to be cost effective.
Hair sheep lambs are not competitive with the wool breeds when it comes to feeding out lambs.
But............ wool sheep just don't work on a big scale around here. Hair sheep do.
