Subject: RE: Sheep and goat prices

NC
New Holland is the holy grail of sheep sales. If you can't make it work there, you won't be able to make it work anywhere.
I price my sheep .25/ lb off what they are going for in New Holland.

I have hair sheep. They are a conglomeration of breeds. I had a crazy neighbor that loved sheep and just kept collecting them for 20 years. He had 500 in an old chicken house. only the toughest thrived. He let me pick thru them to get me a starter flock when he decided to concentrate on horn growth.
I picked the bigger framed hornless hair ewes with no foot growth. They have done very well for me. Except I cannot control their breeding(unless I band newborns, not good for Arabic sales)), so they will not work on my pasture. Not a problem because the neighborhood is full of empty chicken houses and they do great in them.
