My whole point is that there are other ways to mitigate risk, and that historically puts have been the most expensive way of doing it. No one risk management strategy fits every farm or situation. Your strategy of putting a floor in, if it works for you is one such strategy. Right now they look "cheap" but there is a reason for that, the probability is very high they will expire worthless.
