He still has most of the same tenants 20 yrs later. When I finished college I was one of those ads, not much help by the way. Took a while but finally farming full time now in twelfth year. Eventually did get some of my Dad's ground rented when he bought a new piece or tenant released it. Pay top dollar via bid like everyone else. He does give me option to match high bid. Actually had one of his tenants sniffing around another farm of mine and ran up rent substantially. I called him thinking he would be civil. After a heated discussion he finally said "I am just thinking of my boys, they want to farm". I said €#<<€\ your boys! I went to school with them, let them get there own ground to farm like you and I. He still rents almost as much of my Dad's land as I do, but he does pay plenty! | |
