| Sorry to hear you are having such a rough go of things. I realize weather is probably not a factor in the problems you mentioned, however I always like mentioning that for me lambing in May always worked better than trying to lamb during the cold. Maybe it was in my head but it seemed that the ewes came through it better and the lambs seemed to as well. Since your kids are involved and you are wanting them to learn with as little heartache as possible, it may be worth thinking about pushing lambing back a few months. Plus, the late night checks to be sure all is well are so much easier to do in a light coat than when you have to get bundled up!
