The winter of 78-79 was the record setter so it would be the summer of 79 you would be looking at.
Here it was cold and a lot of snow which turned into a late spring. US production reached a high point in 79. Production had been increasing yearly, pretty stable period up until 1980 other then 74. production then became erratic until 96 where we stabilized and had a nice run until 2011. Someone talked about cycles in the markets, you also see it in production. Noaa talked about entering a period of instability at the end of the 2000's after a long period of benign weather, have to give them some props, it's been a roller coaster. As far as correlating cold winter with production problems in the summer, I don't think you can.
