It gives you an option if you are running short of hay,wean calves and sell, wean calves and keep till grass then sell, if you are long on grass keep till fall. no scours. We have both the fall calving just seems easier. If you have calves on grass you can miss a problem because she is way out there having trouble but that can happen in a barn at 4 AM.
