New Mexico | There it's best to just wean the calves 1st part of Dec ( Aug / Sept calves ).
They weigh 4 then...wean easy.
Fall cows get BIG over time. Reason is they're P'3s when the going is easy every year.
Your better off with May June July Aug kinda calfing ( makes more optimal use of your feed enviro ). mo
Nice thing about spreading calfing groups:
It's a better market hedge. ( more market slots / different time frames )
Allows for more efficient bull use ( without owning more bulls ).
