you are partly right, it is yearly cost/acre. Most people I know have equipment payments. They don't buy a $100,000
tractor in cash, they pay for it over five years. So they have a yearly cost to own. Once you own it, how you figure your
cost to own is subjective to your accounting other than repairs.

To farm 400 acres I could do it with
$25,000. I can think of a couple guys that post on here that do farm 5000 acres and I don't know that they have $350,000
in equipment. Equipment is relative to where you farm and what you think you have to farm with. Just like the comments
about how high the repairs are for old equipment. You don't have to fix every little thing if you can't afford it, as long as it
gets the job done.
