EC IL | I can understand your desire to do your own harvesting, but I think there are alota things you arent taking into consideration. You havent mentioned parts, fuel, labor, insurance or intrest costs of owning a machine for that small acreage . You said in your second post, that you wouldnt expect much wear & tear on 2-400 acres......but yet earlier, you showed us an example that 500 acres was "break even" compared to having a custom cutter. I happen to do quite a bit of custom harvesting & see the other side of the coin. The checks coming in, never seem to go as far as you think they should, till you get done payn bills lol.
