first find a farm magt group near you if possible. Avergage equipment cost/acre here is in the $65/75 per acre range. So 400 acres $25k is a realistic number. Start with a good jd8820 $12k. Now you can find a couple hundred acres of custom work to help cashflow. You don't have alot of money left to work with, but there is enough. Even trade combining with the neighbor for planting, ect.
