When I worked for the Deere dealer, I ripped them off before delivery of the tractor or combine, I know some guys did not like it at first, but most would say later they was glad it was off. My boss ( the owner, always wanted them off too )
We both always thought if you spend that much for a piece of equipment, ENJOY IT ! I have not seen one yet effect the resale of equipment either, if its that bad, replace the cushions !
What I do is go to Meijers or WalMart and get some black, brown, or gray bath towels, then I have my Mom ( she's a seamstress ) sew these towels into customized seat covers, She puts on some elastic bands to keep them in place and makes a "pouch" that slips over the backs of the seat...not really super fancy, but they look GOOD, work GREAT and are easy to take off and throw in the washer when dirty.
For my Peterbilt, she even made some for the armrests,
