The information which is important is the sensor data recorded by the yield monitor. What we are doing here is just trying to make an interface between the sensors and the operator....has little or nothing to do with the data being harvested for later use, only with what you can see while running in the field. It is my belief, based on quite a number of years with multiple combines, that you can get a better fit doing a systematic and correct job of calibration using bin loads judged by the level sensor then you can by doing a "get'r'done, hurry-up" job using a scale but being sloppy with the flow rate proceedures. A grain cart scale would make it all simple....hope to have one next year....but without one it can take weeks to get a batch of combines properly calibrated....this has a tendancy to be unpopular with the other owners when it is taking place while the machines should be shelling corn. |
