With all that phosphate you may have invested for more than one generation of hay growers.

actual applied was:
N: 21 lbs/ac
P: 100 lbs/ac
K: 330 lbs/ac

I estimated the alfalfa to yield 2.5 tons/ac/yr. Using a removal rate of 12 lbs/ton of P and 44 lbs/ton of K, I came up with 30 lbs/yr of P and 112 lbs/yr of K. That's only 3 years maintenance, not counting any building and the soil samples were pathetic to begin with.

Hay Wilson in TX - 7/1/2012 08:48The telling part of this thread is your admiting that the Organic Rules Of What Is Good is not at all logical.

Without getting all tied up in organic bashing, let me just say that I am in it for the money. Not saying I agree with all the rules, but they are the rules and so long as they work for me, I will play the game. My father has chosen not to buy fertilizer, so if the bulk of your acres hasn't seen a chemical ever, you may as well be selling your product for all you can get, IMO. That was my reason for getting certified.
