How much HP does your turbine require? Does the 3208 have thermostats in the cooling system? If the motor isn't loading up enough to build some heat and the thermostats are functioning properly they'll burn and slobber oil. How are you engaging the clutch or are you running it direct? It's fairly easy to automate the system with a clutch and cool down time. I’ve learned a few thing over the years and regardless to common belief but bringing up the water slow and letting it go down by slowing down the diesel is the best way I know to destroy a column shaft bearings if they’re water lubricated.

The company that drilled the well said that I need around 100 hp. The old Cat has a tag on the valve cover saying it is rated at 155 hp @ 2400 rpm. We are turning it at 1920 rpm and after several hours of operation the exhaust temp was running about 325 deg F. Does not seem to be working it very hard.

If we need to irrigate I start it up when I am there on the weekend or Grandpa starts it up for me. I would love to automate the process. Need to research that one a little bit...
