The NCBA doesn't control the checkoff dollars. That money is controlled by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board,
a stand-alone organization of checkoff-paying producer volunteers. The first .50 cent of the dollar goes to that. The other .50 cents goes to your local state beef council. Here in Idaho we voted to raise our checkoff to $1.50 and it passed. You can however file to request .50 cents back from the state ( in Idaho) if you feel you don't want to pay. To my knowledge nobody has asked for it back.

I will agree I don't like some of the things NCBA has done with their funds. I would gladly pay more for advertising because you need to promote your product. If it become a voluntary thing, your neighbor would be riding on your shirt tails and never pay a thing. I would like to write more of my thoughts, but I need to go to a meeting. I want to get back on here to see comments. This is a good discussion to bring up, thanks.
