central iowa | I may get flogged for this, but an old mechanic once showed me the easiest way to remove a steering wheel, maybe not the kosher way, but it works.
Get a blunt end on your air hammer and put your knee's under steering wheel and put as much upward pressure as you can and hit the end of the spleened shaft with a quick burst of the air hammer. If shaft damage looks to be a problem, you can use a shaft protector of some kind. This has worked every time i needed it to.
