"Cheap, easy and safe, so why not" But I agree, she's likely got a tremendous oxytocin release going on already.

More cows may need calcium since that will stop muscle contraction completely and is easily reversable. On the other hand it's nice to deal with a cow that just lays there and isn't struggling and running around beating the prolapse up on her hocks and dragging it through the weeds so the arteries rupture internally.

A prolapse isn't one you want to haul in to the vet. They need to stay in a small pen or be left laying down if at all possible.
