SESD | I am able to share equip with my dad, but I am much less than you are thinking. Wife is stay at home. I bought a 1/4 last year and rent 3 more. Do some custom work, but that basically pays for the equipment and a little more. Also have 40 hd of cattle. FWIW, Dad is handicapped and limited to what he can do so I do most of his work, but trade labor for equipment. If I only had my own, I would look for more custom. Has to be something you are comfortable with no matter what it is. Alot of work can get done in short order with the equipment these days and can also custom hire if need be, but don't minimize the value of your time if it was put into your farm as opposed to in town. | |
