You have already identified part of your solution. Run a tractor down all the rows you intend to irrigate
Here we pack every other row, you will see better results after a rain when the ground is moist. Pulling a capped (8”x36”) pipe behind your ditcher helps firm furrow bottom and move trash/clods out of ditch.
