Agree on the 144's, I have two of them on the planter rig, been using them for 18 years, maybe 8 years since one of them had a repair kit put in. The ground has to be solid, take no chances. Mine are fed through relays which receive power from 12 ga wires to assure proper voltage. Coils are removed, cleaned, plungers treated with corrosion inhibitor annually, takes about 5 minutes. Valves are flushed with water then drained when season is over.

The pull behind field sprayer was a different story, came with 3 144 valves for the 3 section boom, wired by the manufacturer using a TeeJet manual controller. Enough troubles to cause me to heed advice from postings here, replaced with three section ball valve unit. When installing I learned an additional power wire was required at the valve unit, and thought to myself that the old valves might have had a chance with that extra power wire installed and 3 relays to feed the valve coils.
