Part of my new basement I studded the walls leaving them about 1" away from the concrete. Once all of the studs were in place I had 2" of foam insulation sprayed on the walls from the bottom of the floor above the basement wall to the basement floor. On the outside I had a gray colored water sealant sprayed on. It will strech up to 1/4" if a crack forms, it is not the black tar crap that has been used for many years.
