Driftless SW Wisconsin | A couple questions on a subject I know little about:
On a northern cold climate poured concrete foundation which will have finished walls and living space on the inside of 3 sides of a walkout basement:
It seems to me that the 2" styrofoam insulation should be on the outside of the basement walls right on the waterproof black sprayed-on coating so the concrete is on the warm side of the insulation and serve as a heat sink
If the inside is to be a finished (waterproof) drywall wall on top of studs which are screwed to the inside of the new concrete, should there be a vapor barrier on the inside of the concrete? Or should it be allowed to breathe?
Anyone have experience or suggestions on the best way to insulate and finish a concrete foundation wall like this?
I would appreciate any suggestions or experience.
