Richland Center, Wi | Martin has a good point here. We had a huge old basswood tree in our yard. There were several large branches which were hanging in such a way that, if they ever came down, they would have hit the house. A few branches had some out of the tree during windstorms...I happened to ask our insurance agent if we had coverage. His response was that if you've had problems with branches coming down, you had ample notice that the tree was dying and you should have removed it---i.e., no, you won't have any coverage on any damage to your house.
Maybe your policy is different than ours---the basswood tree is down and headed for the wood heater.
