Subject: We have a standard in the USA

Hutchinson, MN
No matter what sector of the livestock industry you choose to talk about, any producer that wants to be in business for very long needs to reduce the stress (read cruelty) that his animals are subject to. Livestock productivity and efficiency suffers greatly in the face of any form of stress. Capitalism guarantees humane treatment in our livestock production practices. Any other measure of humane treatment, is simply what is pleasing to that individuals eyes. The thinking behind it is most certainly influenced by extremists, who have to much time and money on their hands. They also have never had s**t on their shoes.
